Will Brown

In just four years, Will and Jamie Brown have helped establish the Capital Region as one of the top Coaches vs Cancer markets in the country.  Since the inaugural Coaches vs Cancer Basket Ball in 2006, the Browns have worked with their counterparts at Siena College to raise over $500,000 on the fight against cancer.  Coach Brown has experienced great success for Coaches vs Cancer, and on the court with the UAlbany Great Danes.

Will Brown is in his tenth season as the University at Albany's head men's basketball coach.  The UAlbany program has won 15 or more games in five of the last six seasons.  The Great Danes have advanced to the America East Tournament semifinals three times and became the first ever seventh seed to defeat as second seed in conference post-season play in 2008-09.

Brown led the Great Danes to their first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament berth in 2005-06 after winning both the America East Conference tournament and regular-season titles.  UAlbany set the program's Division I record for single season victories with a 21-11 record.  His squad posted UAlbany's first postseason triumph in 11 years with three wins in the America East tournament play.  The Great Danes, who also established their top conference mark with 13 victories in the regular season, went on to put a monumental fight against second-ranked Connecticut in a memorable NCAA first-round battle.  Brown was named the New York State Coach of the Year.

Brown guided the Great Danes to their second straight Amerca East Conference championship after defeating top-seed Vermont in the 2007 tournament final.  The Great Danes, who earned an automatic NCAA berth, were seeded No. 13 against Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season winner Virginia.  Brown's team totaled 20 victories during the regular season for the first time at the Division I level.  Brown led UAlbany to its highest single-season Division 1 win total (23) in school history and posted consecutive 20-win campaigns for the first time in 17 years.
